There's a new law in MA that requires everyone to get health insurance. I am 21 and my brother is 24 and we both technically live at this residence. We both have health insurance through our jobs, but our mother does not. In filling out forms for my mother for her health insurance, it asks for the family income. My brother lives part-time at our house and has just recently gotten a full-time job, which will drastically increase the "family income". Even though my brother and I do not give our mom money and have our own health insurance, do we have to report our income on my mother's form? Or could my mother just report her own income?

That would be a question for someone who works for the organization you are reporting to. Better safe than sorry. It is illegal to lie, so you'd better ask.

Now, if you're looking at Medicare for her, and she's old enough, it isn't going to matter.

But if they borrow tax records and match up ss#'s to addresses and taxes withheld, you could be in serious trouble.

If you have included your mom in your policy then she will also get insurance benefit. However consult your nearest insurance agency and get clarified.
