Default No health insurance, new baby?

I just had a baby born, and I lost my health insurance. We planned to put my baby and I on my husband's university plan, but he is not a full time student anymore, as he works to provide for us. It makes all of us without health insurance and we cannot afford to buy one for the three of us.

We do not qualify for federal help either. My husband works for the company that does not offer health benefits. If he were to switch a job, then we would get benefits in 3 months.

Are there any options for us?

For now you guys will have to go with the free insurance your state offers. So you have to go to those clinics. All in all you will be taken care of. I will soon be in your shoes. Sucks that you have to worry about all this, but it happens. Go to your neighborhood clinic and ask them how to go about getting assistance

The federal government offers free or low-cost insurance for children. Check out the following site for more information:

http://www.insurekidsnow.gov/

My nieces have this insurance and it is wonderful. It covered them as babies and now (ages 6,7, and 9). They can even go to "regular" doctors and dentists.

there are ins. companies for kid that are available to low income families, but it is not as hard to qualify as Medicaid is. And you only pay a monthly premium of like $15. The one in Florida is called Florida Kid Care.

Contact your local Department of health and human resources all states help provide health insurance not only for the baby but for the mother as well until the child reaches the age of 6mos to 1 year the time length varies in each state.Good luck.

Your state may offer health insurance for children.
