I'm 19 and don't have any health insurance. I was wondering if there were any programs that would provide me with free or little cost insurance so I can see a doctor. Thank you.

Depending on your income; you may be approved for medicaid. You will have to go to your (its called Familiy Independance Agency here) to see if you qualify through the state.

If you are in school, sometimes you can get a low cost plan through the school. You may also qualify for the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). That is the federal name, but each state has its own name and eligibility rules. I linked a page below with a list of state sites.

You may also be able to qualify for a Blue Cross Blue Shield or other private individual plan. I had BCBS and it wasn't terribly expensive, but it might be too much if you have a limited income. You could also try your states Medicaid program, but it is tough to qualify for that sometimes.

If you really need to see a doctor, some hospitals have clinics and some community service agencies also have clinics. Call your local United Way, and they may be able to let you know about free clinics in the area.
