Default Can I qualify for/purchase health insurance if I'm already pregnant?

I am only a month along at this point and I happen to be between jobs. I'm supported by my boyfriend and family at this point but for now, I don't have my own healthcare. Should I conceal the fact that I'm pregnant when I apply in Hawaii for Quest or will they still cover me? Do I have to get married so I can try getting on my boyfriend's work insurance? I intend to get another job in the meantime but I want to purchase insurance on my own in case I don't get coverage for some reason or I get dropped because I was already expecting upon hire.

It would be considered a "pre-existing condition" and excluded from coverage, assuming that they would take you at all.

If you had health insurance at your previous job and worked the required number of months there, you could qualify for a continuation of benefits from the old plan under COBRA. That would be your best bet. Not cheap - you pay the premium - but a lot less expensive than paying for a normal delivery out of pocket.

You have to shop around some insurance companies have policy's where pregnancy is covered immediatley, and some (most) say they won't cover anything to do with pregnancy for 18 months after being insured with them.
Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield has some great policies, see if they are available where you are!
Good luck and CONGRATS!!!
