me and my gf r having a baby that is due in may and i was wondering becuz we r both still on our parents insurance and niether will cover the baby can we buy an insurance policy now so we dnt hav to pay for the whole thing when she has the baby
If you or your gf are over 18, no problem. Go buy insurance. However, if both of you are under legal age, your parents may have to cosign. Buying insurance is a legal contract.
If you are in a low income household in the US you could apply for medicaid for the mother and baby. They won't refuse a pregnant woman. It will last 30-60 days after the baby is born but will continue for the child if there is no insurance available otherwise. Otherwise you could try to get a insurance policy for her and the baby.
The state will pay for insurance (I think it's called My Child or something like that) for children. Just research what your state offers online. Make sure you follow all the steps and turn your paperwork in on time. My daughter (after I lost my job) was covered under state insurance until I was able to get another job with insurance. Good luck!
