In the US, most, if not all states have a Department that regulates insurance companies. Contact them to see if they can offer any help regarding getting insurance help. You never know. I once shook some money from State Farm Insurance when they wanted to take their sweet time paying out on a claim.
Below are some links that may also help you do some research. Try the disease risks (last 2 links). They should give you an idea if your insurance company is realistic in evaluating your health risk. It is possible you could challenge them. You could also apply for governmental assistance, if you qualify. Suggest a cancer survivors support group. Do a web search. You should find one and they should have loads of information for you.
