Approx. how long after my death would my the benefiaries recieve the check?

It varies between companies, but every state has a time line on when the insurance company must pay the death claim. Some companies wait the last minute to pay, others pay it right away. Some may want to do investigation, so they will ask the state for an extension on the deadline. They will have notify your beneficiary about the investigation.

My company pays within 48 hours to 7 days. They try to do their best to pay death claims as soon as possible. Sometimes they make the agent deliver it to make sure it gets to beneficiary. But if the agent's client lives in another state, then the company will mail it. I don't like doing it since it so stressful and sad, but I'm there to reassure the family that I'm going to be there every step of the way to make sure their finances are in order.
