how long does it normaly take a life insurance to come in the mail after the passing of the holder?

2-4 weeks after all the paperwork is received from the company. Assuming the policy isn't being contested by the insurance company.

With my parents demise - I got some death certificates the day of the funeral. My broker was given one for my father two days after the funeral. less than 3-weeks later we had a check. On my mothers case - we mailed the certificate to the company and it took almost 2-months to get a check.
