Anyone who knows about home owners insurance (fire disaster issue)?
My family and I were renting a old three level victorian house. It was beautiful. Over 100 years old..We lived there for five years. It was once a whole house then broken up into four seperate apartments..The landlord never gave us lease agreements so we weren't allowed to get renters insurance. The landlord hired a man to fix the roof and they ended up setting the roof on fire. It was bad. The third level was destroyed by fire. The 2nd and 3rd(mine) had servere water damage. Huge holes in the ceilings from the fire fighters..Its been 3 weeks and the landlords insurance co. still wont let us in..its a "liability" issue. We got the least amount of damaged. How long will this be? I mean will it be until they decide to fix it or knock it down? its condemned now. Im afraid they will knock it down and never let us get our stuff. Im hearing it can take years before the insurance company does anything..whats the point of insurance if this is how the act in a disaster?
They condemned the house until repairs are made..Its not the towns responsibility to fix the house..so why is the insurance company dragging their feet? they have been to the house like 4 times already..
