...insurance companies.? Is this a good idea? I had only one claim in more than 10 years and I am having trouble. Should I change and get my insurance directly from the company of my choice?

An insurance broker is the middle guy with an insurance license and by going through a broker, you have someone to bat for you when issues get tough with your carrier. Also, if you want to ask questions, the broker has a quick answer or can go directly to the carrier without all the hassle you face without someone like a broker. Also, if you have a question that has to do with claims, if you call direct, the claims department will file your question, whether a claim or not, as a claims report. This is an "x" against you in the claims report area. So, its your call.

There are advantages both ways. A broker will usually have multiple companies in which to play your insurance. The trouble is they are just middle men and may not be able to get information from the companies they write for as they don't have all the inside contacts. I write for a direct company and if there is ever a question about a claim, I don't have to leave a message for the claims dept. I can usually find someone or move it up the ladder to get answers quickly. I only have one company to understand the underwriting guidelines for and I like the idea of having the ability to get answers quickly for my insured. The choice is yours, but sometimes you get what you pay for!!!
