Default why do insurance companies make you feel like a liar when claiming for being...

...robbed in your own home !!!? We were robbed early thurs morning I came downstairs to find 3 men in my home ,they ran out and stole our car to getaway When i phoned the insurance the questions made me feel as if I was telling lies I have never claimed for anything before the robber got my 3 rings wedding , engagement , and eternity which I have no reciepts for they also got my laptop its got a password on it and they didnt get the mains plug can they still use it ? Sorry but I needed a moan today cos I'm so down .
I have a few pics of me wearing the rings, there not great but at least you can see them and the insurance said to send them but they wont let me email to them and I cant print them out cos the printer i have isnt good .
Thanks for all the replies I will be getting the rings replaced by a jewellers which I am very happy about ,our car still hasnt been found and as its only 8 mths old we have gap ins so it will be replaced with a new one the only thing is the wait ! for the car my husband needs it for work and he's on 24 hr call out a curtisey car would have been handy but they wont give us one I think the ins comp are right send people to a jewellers to replace jewellery instead of handing out money, as for the laptop they told me that I would get a replacement from the shop I bought my stolen one from I also have changed all my private details online like passwords etc . All you answers were very good and I cant pick out a best one I think I need a bit of help again !!! lol

Gina

sorry to hear whats happened to you. I hope the ones who did crash the car and burn to death in it, and then youll get a nice new one on the insurance.
If you dont want to risk losing the photos, go to any branch of spielmanns or boots and they can duplicate them so you have copies to send to the insurance fascists.
They could still use the laptop but without the password its unlikely they can get access to any of your files
The reason the insurofascists try and make you feel like a liar is theyre hoping you will get agitated and drop the claim so they can save money. Dont let them get away with it, stand firm!
Good luck

Because they think commercially, which implies that money is the goal, not people.
Please feel my sympathy for this situation of yours and think: they are pathetic, not you!!

go at any photography store ( and some computer shops), they'll print your photos in few minutes no matters what's your source, other printed photos, digital photos, film...whatever, and for few cents...
they can use your laptop just buying generic laptop power cable
if they're really interested in your PC content they may easily be able to break your password, or will probably sell the laptop and don't care about your data in it
I imagine how you can feel, it's so bad when you get robbed or anyway damaged and have to deal with insurance companies that treat you like an idiot

The claims adjuster has only your word to go on about what was stolen. The adjuster has to do an investigation to determine if you have a valid claim and what is the correct dollar amount of the claim.

Experienced adjusters get suspicious of everyone, eventually. People lie and make fraudulent claims very frequently. Don't feel offended. The insurance company has to protect your interest and the interest of all of the other policyholders who paid premiums to cover your loss.

It's funny how insurance companies claim to help their clients and then get pissy when they're needed to pay on a claim. I guess they are trained in sales to gain business and then to keep in business they are trained to interrogate, delay, negotiate for a better deal. It's a catch 22 to expect your insurance coverage will be there when you need it [rightfully so, since you pay for it], just to be questioned, threats of premium increase or dropped all together when you do file a claim. If you have any pictures of you wearing the rings, take them in & passwords can be wiped off thru your bios setup, unless you had one set for that also. Pretty much, the right person can get thru any computer and find parts. If you have the product key code seperate from the laptop, call it in as stolen and they can block the number. Then the thief can't download up dates without validation. Software liscenses all have these numbers & are expensive to buy new ones to make them valid.
