Default Travel insurance?

I have just got back from china. Whilst I was there I had my bag stolen which had clothes, shoes, etc. I purchased travel insurance before traveling and am covered for upto £2500 which is plenty to cover what was taken. The thing is I dont have recpits for most of the items that were stolen, will this be a problem when making my claim? I have got a police report from the chinese police to support my claim. Please advise. thanks

Submit the claim anyway, you have the most important thing which is the police report from China.

I do not think that it will be a problem for you that you do not have receipts for the items that were stolen .The Insurance Company probably knows what the average person has in their travel bag. We had our garage robbed, we filed a claim, and tried to remember what exactly was in our toolchest, the insurance company never questioned it and we were properly reimbursed. Good luck.

In addition kindly list down all items and the amount together with the police report. It should be OK as many travellers don't keep original receipts.

The claim department will look at your detail list. They are very smart people, don't inflate any figure and give them any chance to void your claims. If possible, the list of lost items in your baggage should be type written and signed by you.

Good luck
