Default Travel insurance (UK): how to claim for norovirus?

I know I'm daft, but I booked a non-refundable Jet2 return airline ticket. On the night before departure I got a tummy bug that made sure I couldn't travel - but I could hardly visit a GP either. In 2 days I was all clear again but of course the trip had come and gone.

I do however have travel insurance with AXA (annually) and I got a policy out on the flight itself with Travellers Protection Services Ltd (http://www.jet2.com/content/EN/popups/TPS_terms.html)

Has anyone got experience in trying to make a claim for something like this?

You could claim under the cancellation clauses but they will want proof that you were indeed off sick. Go to your doctor and he will examine you and ask you questions about your illness. He should then be able to issue a certificate. You might need to pay him up to £30 for this service so be prepared.
