If your talking medical insurance, I don't know what the cheapest is but the best is Lunn Poly. It's second to none, I always get it and have claimed serious amounts on it over the years, there's never a problem and I only ever have to show the documents and everythings sorted, even in quite backward countries.

If you can afford to keep enough money in a Lloyds Current Account, they will turn it into a "Gold Account" which includes free travel insurance for the account holders up till the age of 80. Check out the amount which needs to be kept in the Account and if you have to pay a premium for extended cover.
