Car insurance premium (problem)
Hello
I'm going to take driving test in August and after I will pass I would like to buy a car. Before I will do that I would like to have an idea about the insurance premium. I spent plenty of time making quotes at many websites comparing insurance prices and directly with insuring companies. I was quoting for Ford Fiesta 1993 LX 1 1100cc 3dr Petrol Manual 1992-1993. Few my friends had paid for such as car between £650-800 at the age of 17. For me (18 years old) offers were £2200-5200 with £500 excess! I don't have driving license yet but when I was making quotes I had written that I already have one.
Now informations about me:
- Gender: Male
- Date of birth: 03.07.1990 (I had filles that it is 03.04.1990 because I will be 18 in August)
When did you become a UK resident?: February 2008 ( I had filled that it was December 2007 because I will be in England half a year in August, I even filled that I was born in England but the difference in price was only about £200)
- Marital Status: Single
- Type of driving licence held: I filled that I have Full UK
- Driving licence held for: 0 years
- No claims discount: 0 years
- Have you had any motoring convictions?: No
- Have you had any motor insurance claims?: No
- Do you drive any other cars?: No access to any other cars
- Post Code: NN5 5LN
- Employment status: Student
Informations about the car:
- Ownership of vehicle?: I wrote that I already have that car
- When did you purchase the vehicle?: May 2008 (just bought it)
- Who will be the owner of the vehicle?: Policyholder
- Approx vehicle value?: £200
- Vehicle's security device?: Factory fitted Immobiliser
- Does the vehicle have a tracker fitted?: No
- Right or left hand drive?: Yes
- Number of seats?: 4 (I'm not sure)
- How will you use the vehicle?: SDP&C
- Estimated annual mileage (excluding any business mileage): Up to 7000
- Where is the vehicle kept overnight?: Street (At the place of living)
- Number of other cars in your household?: 1
Cover details:
- Policy start date: I filled few days later after actual date
- Type of cover: Third Party, Fire & Theft ( It can be also Third Party Only)
- Voluntary excess: I filled even £500
- How would you prefer to pay for your car insurance?: Annually
- Are you a homeowner?: No
I was really suprised at such as big amounts for a car worth only £200. I'm in England only 4 months (by the way sorry for my English and for sure plenty of spelling errors) so I'm not well informed in British car insurance prices but like I had written before few my friends paid between £650-800 and they were 1 year younger than me. I really don't know what's the cause of the premium which was offered to me. I'm counting on your help which is very important for me. I don't hope for the best but I wish the price would be even about £1200.
Thank you very much for your time which you spent on my problem. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
Dawid
