My problem is that I barely knew the guy that cosigned. (He was my stepdad).
I had never had insurance before in my name so I assume the dealership where the vehicle was purchased took care of the insurance requirements.
My question is this... How do I go about getting proof of coverage for that vehicle for that time period? I don't know which insurance company covered the vehicle and my stepdad and mom are gone for good (MIA).
Per state law, there had to be coverage before the dealership would let the vehicle off their premesis.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Unfortunately, if you are unable to track down the insurance information you will likely be rated as someone without prior insurance. But, in six months you can probably shop around again and get a better rate.
There are companies who can give a decent rate even though you may not be able to prove prior insurance. Visit my website - I am an Arizona agent.
