Default Should I report the accident to the insurance?

I have Progressive and the other driver who was ticketed and at fault has Allstate.

I haven't reported the accident to my insurance thinking my rates would go up. Allstate does not want to pay for my car rental and won't do anything retroactive on the cost of renting a car. They claim they have 30 days to do their own investigation, if they find I wasn't at fault, then they will pay but not retroactive.

So what can I do?? Does it make a difference that I haven't reported this accident to my insurance? Will they find out anyway???

Please help

If you are not at fault then you don’t need to worry about your rates increasing. And you should report the accident. As far as rental car, insurance companies do pay for them but only for reasonable amount of time.

I think you should report the accident as soon as possible to try they give you the payment you deserve.. if you nothing you will get nothing.

Definately report it. They will know anyway. They have a central system with your states dmv. Even if you go into an agent's office for a quote, they will see your history of anyone in your household and which insurance company they have.

If it was the other person's fault and they were ticketed, you have no worries with your own carrier. They are only going to raise your rates when you are at-fault. I would still contact them if you are still having trouble with Allstate.
