Default car insurance questions ?

hi im about to get my license in 2 days. i already have a car, its an 89 mercedes benz 300. im 17 years old, i took 6 hours of driving lessons. i was wondering which car insurance is cheapest? my father said if he put me under his policy i would be $4000 a year and told me to get a job, that hes not going to have his rates go up because of me. so i guess im going to have to get my own car insurance, but thats going to be kind of hard because i have me and my son to provide for, gas im going to have to pay, and top it off insurance. so anybody have insurance advice for me? and is it true i have to be 18 to get my own?
i was planning on getting a job once i got my license, it will be easier that way, instead of taking a bus to work w| a baby and such. so once i get my license i will have a job. im paying for my son w| money i had saved and child support.

For an 89, All you need is Liability insurance, this will cost about $500.00 a year. Contact an insurance agent. State Farm is good, or Nationwide, etc.

Why did you have a baby at 17??? You needed a baby at that age like a hole in the head.....considering adoption......no, I am not trying to be a smart/a just asking....You are 17 years old which automatically puts you into a high risk categeory right off the bat, then you get some high profile car like that Mercedes....how in the hell did you think you could afford it???
If you are persistent about keeping the MB get on the phone all day and call insurance companies......you will find prices all over the place for car insurance. It is a big racket. How is your driving record, teenagers getting tickets will jack the rates much higher.
Good Luck!!!!

Contact several different local insurance angencies and ask about your questions. Teens are always more expensive. The price doesn't go down until you turn 25 as long as your credit rating stays high....

Sounds like you have more on your "plate" than just a car question. Insurance for anyone under 25 is not cheap. I don't know that you will save any by not being under your dad's policy. Auto related expenses are just a part of owning a car. If you are not working, you do need to get a job. How are you providing for your child if you don't work?
