Default Got in a car crash, How long until insurance does something?

It was actually my husband who got in a crash on Monday. It was 100% the other drivers fault and the other driver was ticketed. My husband was going westbound along a 2 lane road and this 89 year old guy was going eastbound turning into a restaurant and for some unknow reason did not see my husband. This guy hit him right in the drivers side and then shoved my husband off the road into the sign for the restaurant. Both sides are the car are crashed. We got the police report and contacted the guys insurance. She said someone would contact us in 3-4 business days. Today (Wednesday) we heard from them. She said she's sending an adjustor out and he will contact us. We've heard nothing yet. She said they won't pay for a rental car yet because she hasn't determined who is liable yet. How do I make these people move faster? I need a car for work! I do not have the money to put forward for a rental. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Ok... let me make this perfectly clear to you... people clearly dont know how insurance works.

When you buy insurance... you pay for them to PROTECT YOU.

So.. you called in a claim to this guys insurance... and they have steps they have to go through before they pay. B/c their job is to protect their insured and fully investigate the claim.

Once a claim is filed.. they first have to give their insured a chance to respond and give their side of the story. Liabiltiy is NOT .. i repeat is NOT.. based off the police report. If their insured doesnt respond.. this can take days.. or even weeks... for them to move forward.

And thats just the beginning... what if they have a coverage issue? How do you know that driver was listed on their policy? How do you know that policy wasnt expired? You dont. They have steps they have to take to confirm none of this is true.

People who call them and nag and nag drive them crazy and probably make them work less hard. It DOES NOT benefit them to delay a claim any longer then they have to.

I suggest that ifyour so eager to get it fixed.. you use your collision coverage... thats why you pay for it... "but its not my fault!" - i understand that.. but if you are demanding a fast fix.. this is the way to do it.. they will reimburse your deductible once they accept liability. By not using your coverage.. you are ACCEPTING the fact that you must let them investigate. and they have EVERY RIGHT to do so.

Now.. i suggest you sit back.. let them do their job.. and try to understand that it isnt as easy as you are making it seem.
