Default Neighbor hit my car, he had no registration or insurance.?

He wants me to claim a hit & run said he would pay for it. I haven't seen him since 2wks - I have his plate number and could give it to my insurance. I fear that he may damage my car in retribution if I do so, its an 06 BMW & I'm not sure which apartment he lives in (its a high rise). I don't want any trouble just my car fixed. What should I do?
Ok Let me elaborate a little more - now pls pls pls I am not sterotyping here. In the car with him at the time was 3 other dudes all will over sized hats, and t-shirts - When the window rolled down I almost got high off the fumes - all the people yelling police and claim. Is it worth my famiiles safety my cars safety at night? He or They know where my car is parked everynight. If this happened away from my home then NP but this issues presents some different set of circumstances.

If he has no registration, how does he have a plate number? You became an enabler two weeks ago when you let him walk away and you may be about to pay for the repairs yourself just because you did.

Do you want this lawbreaker to kill someone before he gets reported? How do you know he is even licensed?

Well, turn in the claim. If you have full coverage your comprehensive coverage will cover it. If you don't have full coverage but you have the uninsured motorists property damage clause, AND you get the guys info (phone number/address) that will cover your damages up to your set limit. And either way the claim is filed, your premiums will go up =(

You should have called the police right away to get a police report. If your neighbor can't afford to pay his registration or insurance, how is he going to pay for repairs on an 06 BMW?
Call the police and tell them that you just saw your neighbor back into your car.

You cannot claim a hit and run if you know who hit your vehicle.
File the claim under your own policy. Your insurance company will repair your car and will attempt to collect the money back from your neighbor. If he gives you any problems in the future, call the police.

Insurance Agent here... turn the claim over to your insurance company & let them handle it, that's what you pay premiums for! NOPE, he will not be paying your damages at all! Kiss him good bye! However, he could be picked up for fraud. I hate it, but this is typical of many many ppl... your comp/coll coverage will fix your car & yes, your premiums will more than likely increase at renewal!

Contact the police and your insurance company. How can he have a plate but no registration? That makes no sense. Do not claim H&R. Just tell them exactly what happened.
