Default How high will our Insurance rates go up when Mexican trucks hit the US highways?

They will be able to go ANYWHERE they want to and the cops can't ask them the same questions which they ask our very own trucks. How many people are going to die from this madness and unsafe trucks will we see on our own roads?

This is not a racist question either, because I have FACTS at my disposal to back up my comments about Mexican trucks not being safe.

The Mexican drug cartels have been buying up Mexican trucking firms for some time now in anticipation of such a move by the Bush Administration. I wonder how many of those trucks will be loaded with drugs?

An even bigger worry....what if Al-Queda infiltrates some of these Mexican trucking firms, and packs each truck with high explosives, enroute to the heart of numerous American cities? God help us if Al-Queda gets it’s hands on nuclear bombs and send trucks across the U.S. border carrying these nukes. The idiots in Washington are going to kill us all if they are left unchallenged.

You can have all the "facts" you want to show that Mexican trucks aren't safe. There are "facts" that American trucks aren't safe either. Mexican trucks will have to follow the same rules as every other truck on the road.

Just one of the MANY very good questions regarding this program. Isn't this really just a back door to Bush's failed Day Laborer program? The US citizens soundly rejected this proposal and now we are getting it crammed down our throats.

I don't think the Teamsters will take this lying down. They are one group that knows how to fight for jobs. None of us should allow this. It is only the first step in allowing people to cross the border to take our jobs. It is bad enough that any job that can be done overseas has been sent there, now we are going to welcome foreigner's here to do our jobs so long as they go home at the end of the day.

More so than jobs though, is the safety issue. The insurance cost is just a byproduct of the safety. Combine that with the risk of terrorism, narcotics etc. being brought in and this is just an unacceptable plan.

PS When that Mexican truck driver hits you on the road and goes to an American hospital, he won't have health insurance and WE will foot the bill for his emergency care also.

Juding by how much higher insurance rates are in Los Angeles than in areas that don't have tons of illegal Mexican drivers (most all insured, of course), I'd say rates will go up. But more important will be the inevtable avoidable tragedy that we will see on the news one day.

Zero, why? The rules statewide are the same for any trucks and inspections are routine.

It irks me to the bone that they would let these people use our highways and allow a semi trailer that is closed to enter our nation! Talk about a travesty!!!

I hadn't thought of that - I was just concerned with staying off the roads to save my life! But since I have to pay for uninsured drivers even though it is against the law to drive without insurance this sounds highly probable. It will take the actuaries a while to notice what is causing all the wrecks so we have time to start saving now...
