Default can i sue my car insurance company if they say my policy does NOT exist!!?

i have had an accident, and the other person is trying to claim off me. i went through a broker, and they and my insurance company are denying knowledge of my policy or car registration. i have a copy of my policy and receipt for payment in full of my policy.
can i sue them and stand any chance of reclaiming my money and compensation for time and stress.
