Default Just bought a car w/a permit only, can i get it insured with plates?

I reside in NY, the title is in my name. Can I have my father who lives at a different address register/insure the car for me anyway even though my name is on the title until I get my license? Thanks everyone.
PS- my father does not own a car and doenst have insurance
