Default I dont understand the "mortgage crisis or insurance crisis" at all...?

ok, tell me why these companies are in crises? for years and years they have doubled and tripled the money they collected, when you buy a house for instance, when you finish paying it off, with interest it costs you about 3 times as much as you paid for it. Also insurance companies collect much more money than they pay out. If this is a crisis, please explain why it is one or if you think along similar lines give me your opinion, nobody likes to lose money and everybody likes to make a profit, but maybe it isnt a crisis if you lose sometimes??? I wonder if all this crisis stuff is for real???
