Default How much for motorcycle insurance for an adult?

I am 36 years old and due to gas prices am considering a cruiser type bike as a commuter. Nothing too high powered- thinking in the 600 cc range. I have a good driving record, but have never owned a motorcycle before or had a motorcycle license. Can anyone give me an idea about how much this would cost? I saw other questions on here but most of them seemed to be by 16-18 year olds with bullet bikes- seems mine might be a little less but not sure.

I'm a little older than that ,and the last i had cost a little more than 130 bucks a year,it wasn't bad at all,and that wasn't through geico or some cheap company that was through state farm, and that was full coverage,i didn't think that was too bad,and that was for a year also,i thought it was really cheap,so yours will be pretty close to that probably ,maybe a little more, good luck on it.

I get my insurance through State Farm... as long as you have a car with them they seem to have some of the lowest rates available for bikes. I have two superbikes, a Kawasaki and an '08 Ducati, I pay $218 a year for the Kawi and $254 a year for the Ducati, full coverage on both of them 12 months out of the year rideable time. Im 30 with a perfect driving record too, not sure what yours looks like

Give them a shot first, good luck.

As a new rider, just resign to the fact that you are going to beat the crap out of this bike, so DO NOT spend good money on a nice bike, cuz you won't get to keep it.

You're going to drop it, bump it, and bang the hell out of it so seriously, get a cheap one used. Like, $2500 or less.

Since you are paying very little money for the bike, don't bother insuring it for anything except whatever is required by law (liability insurance requirements vary from state to state). If you mess it up, just fix it, you'll save money. If you crash into someone, you've got the insurance you need.

I'm 33, I ride a Buell XB12-R (Harley's equivalent of a crotch rocket, but not nearly as fast as a japanese rice rocket), and I have a decent (but not stellar) driving record and I pay $28 a month for ONLY liability through PROGRESSIVE (aka Drive Insurance). Here's my broker info, he only works with bikes: http://www.cdiamond.org/

My bike is paid for in full, so why insure it? Whatever I do to it (say I drop it and break a turnsignal) it's just easier and cheaper to fix it myself.

I'm almost 3 decades old and I pay $79/year on mine. That's liability only though.

My friend just wrecked her bike 1 month ago. She is still in the hosp. with 2 broken legs. She will be off work for 6-7 months. The person that she hit ran a red light while being chased by the PD. The cost is 30 to 40 thousand for the surgery and 2000.00 a week for the extended stay at the rehab center. Now to your question..... She is a good rider and figured that if she went down that it would be from someones fault and not hers. So she got one half a mill on uninsured motorist. She has medical insurance at work to help with the rest . Victims of violent crimes will help too. In all she will put out about 50,000 out of pocket. Get all the insurance you can get!!! You just don't know what will happen and you need a real good helmet and riding gear. Good luck....And yes I have a Harley..

I`m 39 and I pay State farm $6.88 a month for my 180cc Scooter, Liability only.

Call your own insurance company!

Most are only $10 a month.
