Default Motorcycle Insurance?

i'm thinking about getting a motorcycle, so of course, i need motorcycle insurance

i'm on my parent's plan, so they deal with all the insurance issues, anyways, my mom said that the insurance person said that i still need car insurance, even though i'm only going to be on the motorcycle

is there any way that i can get only the motorcycle insurance? cause it seems kind of pointless paying for something that i'm not going to be doing... if it matters, we're with allstate
i just asked my mom again why i would need to have car insurance, and she said that it's because i also have a driver's license, so that's why i need car insurance too

anyways, regarding the high performance comment, i'm thinkin about getting the honda nighthawk, it's only a 234cc engine with a top speed around 75-80 mpg, so insurance will be lower, i just something to ride around town, but if i need to, take it on the freeway
