Who's at fault for the accident? What state are you in?
In a full tort state, if the car is at fault for the accident (and in my experience, 90% of motorcycle/car accidents are the car not seeing the bike, it's the car's fault), their liability insurance will be responsible - UP TO THE LIMIT OF COVERAGE. Some states, the minimum limit is $10,000 or $15,000, for bodily injury. SO, that doesn't go very far if the biker is "badly injured".
THEN, the biker has to rely on his uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. IF he bought it.
Full coverage only means, they have at least minimum liability, and they have coverage on the car itself for accident & theft. It does NOT mean "maximum limits" or anything else.
