Well, there are individual dental plans out there, the problem is they don't pay out more than they take in. When you "run the numbers" you'll find out you're better off paying out of pocket. The coverages are different, the copays are steep, there are waiting periods, etc.
I don't know of any individual vision plans, though. That's even MORE like maternity coverage - you only buy it if you want to use it. Kinda defeats the whole "spread the risk" idea behind insurance.
You're probably best off paying out of pocket for both.
