I live in California and have a 5 month old puppy. She is supposed to get spayed in a week and someone suggested that I get dog insurance because it may cover the costs. First off, does the insurance actually cover spaying, if so, which is the best insurance to get? I did a little research and seems like you have to pay about $20 more a month to be on a plan that pays for spaying, is it possible to get the better insurance for like 2 months then downgrade to the less expensive stuff or am I stuck for a whole year paying that price?

I'm not sure about the us but in the UK you cant get insurance that covers spaying or neutering that is classed as routine treatment so not covered a bit like,vaccinations there not covered either
