She's a 12 week old miniature daschund. I've read they are prone to have spinal problems, especially intervertebral disk disease.

I think it would be a good idea for you. Be careful though, the insurance company I use for my dogs has a list of breeds and the illnesses/diseases/complications they will not cover in EACH breed (I have VPI). I would imagine that they wouldn't cover a dachshund's back problems since they are so likely to have them.

So make sure you do your research and find a company that will cover the problems you are most worried your dog will get.

It seems like a good idea I was thinking about it myself Some policies cover the routine shots and checkups that will pay for itself alone not counting the money off toward surgery and teeth cleaning and some cover heartworm and flea medicine as well.

Its good to have insurance on your dog, Pays for vet bills and so on, I wanted to put my dog on insurance

It saves money.
