Default Pet Insurance?

Do you think getting a "Pet Insurance" for you pet is necessary?
What are the benefits do you usually get from such an insurance policy?
In addition, should you be getting insurance for your pet when their still baby or wait for them until they come to a certain age? Moreover, why is that?

If you get pet insurance for your animal while it is still very young, you can use it to help cover the costs of shots and routine care. Just like any other type of insurance, you may never need it, but if your pet gets cancer or gets hit by a car you will really be glad to have it!

I'm not a huge expert in this department but I do know a few things. I know that pet insurance is a smart idea if you're buying a purebred dog or a dog that is known to be prone to health problems. I have a english bulldog puppy, they are known to have many health problems so getting pet insurance for her would be a good idea. My mom owns neo mastiffs and she got pet insurance for the same reason as well. You should get it when they're young because most policies take several months to take effect. Each policy is different, you'll need to do some research. Your vet can help you out with this.
