Default Pet Insurance ?

Hi I have pet insurance and Im am very happy with the company I am with, but when you make a claim, and you have to pay the excess, before you claim do you have to pay the whole amount up front at the vets, or do you just tell them you have pet insurance and then pay the excess, or do you pay nothing until you fill out the claim form.

Im not sure what I will have to do you see has Ive not had to make a claim yet (touch wood), but I would like to know what to do if ever I have to make a claim. I have the froms and everything and can get the forms easily but it doesnt say anything on it lol.

Thanks for you help

With mine (VPI Pet Insurance) you need to pay for everything yourself. Then you fax or mail in the claim form with your reciept, and you are reimbursed with a check within 30 days.

I am with More Than for my insurance, you pay the Vet the whole bill, then fill in the claim form, my vet fills in any details required and sends off the form. When the cheque comes back to me, the excess has been deducted ( my excess is £75 ) and I'm left with the balance. However, you'll have to check with your insurance company just to clarify the claim system as they are probably all different....

Good question, personally I have a savings account attatched to a credit card for emergencies. IMHO I think pet insurance is a rip off. You can put the same amount of money in a bank account every month and get interest instead of paying a company.

Usualy the vet will require you to pay. Then you send the invoice to the insurance company for reimbursement. Pay it on a credit card and that will give you the time to get the money back
