Default Do you have insurance for your dog?

Has it helped out financially? What carrier do you use?

I have insurance on my youngest dog. It helps out with his regular check ups, heart worm treatments, and shots.

As he gets older, and he needs more expensive treatments, the insurance will *really* help out.

The company that I use is "VPI Pet Insurance". The younger the dog, the cheaper the annual premium. I wouldn't recommend it for an older (above 7 years) dog since it would be cost-prohibitive.

Hope you and your dog have a long, happy time together! : )

4 dogs, all insured with VPI. We have the cancer coverage, because our breed is very susceptible to the disease.

If I had only 1 dog, I might not have insurance, but with 4 dogs, it's worth it for me (I probably visit the vet more often than some folks).

oh yes
my dogs are both insured and earlier this year my elderly dog needed £3.500 pounds worth f treatment for an mri the insurance company paid in advance so i could take him straight off without worrying about the cost
also in this day and age if your dog injures someone or causes an rta your responsible so insurance is vital in these cases too
i dread to think what i would have done if i could not have had the best treatment for my poor old lad and the insurance ensured i could do that

I don't have insurance on my chihuahua, since and that has worked out fine since he never gets sick or injured. I do however have insurance on my Boston terrior because he is a idiot and keeps getting his eyes scratched by cats. I have VPI and it has been a lifesaver. That retarded dog would have cost us thousands by now, and he is only 2.

I don't and the main reason is all of the exclusions in the insurance policies. I've found the better way to go is to set aside some money each month to be used in case of emergencies - that way if it's not needed, you still have your money and not some insurance company.
